Since our humble beginnings, Adkin's has evolved from a Timber Merchant to a comprehensive hardware store. Here's our business history:

• In 1984, brother and sister Larry and Pauline Pryor bought the business with Bob and Heather Lambert. Adkin's joined the Murray River Wholesalers Group before it became Town & Country Hardware Group.
• In 1988, Bob and Heather sold to Ross and Jackie Nettle.
• In 1990, Larry and Pauline moved to Coffs Harbour to start a locksmith service, which they sold to Robin and Tori Chapman. Larry is Robin's uncle and went into partnership with Coffs Harbour City Locksmiths in 2010.
• In 1993, Robin and Tori bought all shares.
• In 2000, the Mitre 10 building in Broken Hill was purchased and moved into.
• In 2006, the Cottons Business was bought to add the Timber and Building Supplies to the business as Adkin's supplied Paint and Hardware, but the Timber and Building supply offer was limited. Cottons was strong in Timber and Building Supplies but limited in Paint and Hardware. So, the offer was combined in a shrinking market.
